Public Service Announcement

Monastery Beach =
Mortuary Beach = 
Cemetery Beach (yes, it rhymes)

Nicknamed by locals because so many out-of-town visitors (that would be "YOU") have drowned at this beach.

While not in the one square mile that comprises Carmel-by-the-Sea (this beach is on Highway 1 on the way down south to Point Lobos and Big Sur) it is important enough to make an exception and include mention of this exceedingly dangerous beach.

Look across Highway 1 - if there is a 1920s Spanish style monastery (actually, a convent) on the inland side of the Highway, you are at Monastery "cemetery" Beach.
